Statistics show that staged houses sell faster and for more money than un-staged listings. If you’re selling a home consider these facts and ideas below and you will sell your home faster!

Let’s look at some numbers before we look at tips on how to stage your house. The numbers help you to better understand how it saves you money in the long run.
On average, it takes:
- 60 – 90 days to sell a staged property
- For an $1,800 mortgage, monthly expenses of $300, the total carrying costs per month would be $2,100. If the property stays on the market for seven months less on this would mean savings of $14,700!!
- 263 days – nine months to sell a property un-staged
Now that you’ve seen the proof in the numbers, you’re likely thinking about where to begin. Here are a few ideas that will definitely get your home sold:
1. Stage Your House to Sell and Not to Dwell
We all get attached to our “stuff” but when selling you want to “de-personalize” the house. This way potential buyers can see themselves living there and not you.
- Declutter, get excess furniture and all your personal belongings moved away from the home
- Paint all the walls a neutral colour
- Repair everything that is broken in and around the house
2. Don’t Leave It Empty
Many buyers cannot envision the potential of a house so don’t leave it empty. When you stage a property, you take the guess work out for the buyers.
3. Stand Out from the Rest
A staged house is perceived as well maintained and move in ready. Also take advantage of the staged home and take professional photos that will definitely make your listing look better and stand out from the competition.

I like how the article explains that on average it takes only 60-90 days to sell a staged property. When I am selling my house, I want it to sell as fast as possible. I will look into having my house staged when I sell it.
